Cover Letter
Dear whom it may concern,
I am writing to express interest in the Principal position at your high school. I am an Assistant Principal currently employed with Keansburg School District. As an Assistant Principal, I hold an expectation of success for every learner that enters our school. Through hard work, determination, and systems thinking I believe that these expectations can be met. It is my belief that students should be given the opportunity to develop into lifelong learners through a balanced education that addresses the needs of the individual as well as the group, across the curricular mosaic. These same guiding principles create a productive and prolific school experience for every student when applied at the building level.
I am currently a doctoral student at Rutgers University with my research focus on chronic absenteeism. It is my belief that it is one of the more overlooked topics in the field of educational reform as well as in local practice. I hold Master's degrees from the American College of Education, Rutgers University, and Kean University in Educational Leadership, Political Science, and Special Education, respectively. I completed my undergraduate studies and teacher preparation at New York University. I have ventured into many avenues of education throughout my career including administration, special education, social studies education, coaching, co-curricular advising, and mental health counseling. I believe that my academic and professional experiences situate me in an advantageous position to lead a school from the principal position.
My resume contains additional information about my Assistant Principal experience, my leadership profile, and my skills as a collegial member of an educational community. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to discuss my candidacy for the Principal position with you. I can be reached via my email at johnbird3366@gmail.com.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to speaking with you in the future.
Sincerely,
JOHN BIRD
